Welcome To Wilann Labradors
Welcome to Wilann Labradors. We are a small hobby breeder located in a farming community in Northern Connecticut, nestled between the larger cities of Springfield, MA and Hartford, CT. We have been breeding since 2007 with a goal toward preserving the Labrador breed, proving excellence in the show ring, obedience ring and field work while also providing healthy, loving family companions. Our puppies have gone to show homes, hunting homes and pet homes, all with great success. Our dogs are not kennel dogs – they are part of our family and live with us in the home.
We successfully compete with our dogs in Conformation, Obedience, Rally and Hunt. Our girls all have Working Certificates and Conformation Certificates. Several of their offspring have also been successful in competition. Wilann Labradors is proud to be recognized by the AKC as a Breeder of Merit.
At Wilann’s, soundness is of the utmost importance. All of the dogs in our breeding program have OFA hip and elbow clearances, yearly OFA Eye clearances, and Echo Doppler heart clearances. We complete genetic testing for PRA, EIC, CNM, HNPK, among other genetic tests as they become available. We also test for the Dilute gene which should not be found in purebred Labradors.
We breed all three acceptable colors and typically only once or twice a year. Our litters are carefully planned with health, temperament, and breed quality being paramount in our breeding decisions. Once we have chosen our puppies, the rest of the litter will be available to companion pet homes at eight weeks of age. These puppies are sold on an AKC limited registration with a spay/neuter contract. They have had a thorough examination by a veterinarian, received their first set of shots, are microchipped, and are wormed at two, four, six, and eight weeks. We spend plenty of time with our puppies: socializing them, introducing them to various scents, sounds, surfaces and, weather permitting, the great outdoors.
Annmarie is a member of three local Labrador Retriever Clubs: the Labrador Retriever Club of the Pioneer Valley (LRCPV), the Labrador Retriever Club of Greater Boston (LRCGB) and the Labrador Retriever Club of the Potomac (LRCP). She is also a member of the National Labrador Club, The Labrador Retriever Club, Inc. She is also a member of an all breed club, Yankee Waterfowlers Hunting Retriever Club. Our involvement with these Clubs keeps us connected with the Labrador Community and allows us to grow as a Breeder and a Competitor.

Things To Have On Hand
Labradors love natural foods such as veggies and fruits. Some examples of favorite snacks are carrots, squash, green beans, cucumbers and lettuce cores.
Foods to avoid are grapes, onions, raw potatoes and any chocolate as they are poisonous to dogs.
Do not feed your dog cooked bones of any kind or size, as these can splinter and be extremely harmful to them. We frequently feed our adult dogs raw turkey or chicken necks to help keep their teeth healthy and clean.
We keep on hand a variety of natural chews, such as cow tracheas and bully sticks. Natural chews are excellent for teething puppies, satisfies the natural desire for dogs to chew and helps maintain dental health.
